In 2020, the UK banned single-use plastic straws — a huge step forward. But the replacement? Paper straws that go soggy in minutes, taste like cardboard, and often contain chemical adhesives to hold them together.
Paper straws still require trees to be felled, water-intensive pulping processes, and chemical bleaching. They're better than plastic, but they're far from perfect.
We knew there had to be a truly sustainable alternative that didn't ask people to put up with a worse experience.

Our straws are made from just two ingredients: rice flour and tapioca starch. That's it. No plastic polymers, no chemical coatings, no bleach, no glue.
Rice is one of the most abundant and renewable crops on earth. Our straws are produced in Vietnam — where rice farming is a way of life — using surplus rice flour that would otherwise go to waste.
The result is a straw that's strong enough to last 2+ hours in any drink, tasteless, odourless, and fully biodegradable. You could even eat it.

Grown from Rice
It starts in the rice paddies of Vietnam. Surplus rice flour — a byproduct of the milling process — is combined with tapioca starch and water. No additional farmland needed, no deforestation, no chemical inputs.
Formed & Dried Naturally
The dough is extruded into straw shapes and air-dried using natural heat. No industrial ovens, no chemical hardeners. The process uses a fraction of the energy and water required to manufacture paper straws.
Used & Enjoyed
Each straw stays firm for 2+ hours in hot or cold drinks. No sogginess, no taste transfer, no colour bleed. It works exactly like a straw should — just without the environmental guilt.
Returns to the Earth
After use, toss it in the compost or food waste bin. Within approximately 90 days, it breaks down completely into organic matter. No microplastics, no toxic residue — just nutrients back into the soil.
