We watched cafés, bars, and families everywhere settle for a worse experience in the name of sustainability. It didn't sit right with us.
Rice is one of the most abundant crops on earth — and in Vietnam, where rice farming is a way of life, surplus rice flour was going to waste. We saw an opportunity: what if we could turn that surplus into something that solves the straw problem?
Working with producers in the Mekong Delta, we developed a straw made from just two ingredients — rice flour and tapioca starch. No plastic, no chemicals, no compromise.
The result exceeded our expectations. Rice straws stay firm for 2+ hours in any drink — hot or cold. They transfer zero taste, don't bleed colour, and work with everything from iced lattes to bubble tea.
For the first time, sustainability and a premium drinking experience weren't at odds. They were the same thing.
Today, EcoTouch supplies homes, cafés, cocktail bars, restaurants, and event venues across the United Kingdom. Every straw we sell is 100% plastic-free, fully biodegradable within 90 days, and made from natural ingredients you could eat.
